One Day Creative Scrap Metalwork
Our classic scrap metal day workshop. You can make WTF you like.
Time & Location
12 Feb 2020, 10:30 – 16:30
Bristol, Bristol, UK
About the event
We offer a one-day intensive course, suitable for all levels of experience. Consecutive days can be booked if you'd like to do a larger or more complicated project, or if you'd like to deepen your skills to gain a higher level of proficiency.
The day will start with a health and safety induction, followed by demonstrations (and some theory) on the tools and facilities available, then we will be jumping straight in to the scrap pile and getting our hands dirty!
Throughout the day participants will be shown all the skills and techniques needed in order to complete their chosen project in the time available, with practical, artistic and problem solving advice on hand from us all the way, if needed.
Ours is a really hands-on, student-led style of workshop, where everyone will choose their own project, set their own working pace, and go home having made an item (or perhaps several items) of original hand made creative metal craft.
There will be a huge variety of interesting pieces of scrap metal to choose from, most of which are included in the course price. Some extra special pieces may cost a little extra, for example, particularly large items, rare items or things like lamp parts, Edison bulbs and clock movements.
We have mood boards to inspire your designs and help with some suggestions for anyone who has a creative block on the day.
We can also advise on equipment choices for those who really get the welding bug! We often have people return to us having set themselves up with the kit, and want extra tuition to get the results they want.
Tools available include:
MIG welders
Angle Grinders
Cut-off Saw
Pillar drill
Roller
Brazing equipment
Oxy-propane torch for heat bending and cutting
...and many hand tools!
Group sizes are between three and six participants to two teachers.
All are welcome.
Young children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Teenagers under 18 will need a parent or guardian to sign a disclaimer.
Apart from the skills and creativity, we aim for us to all have a really enjoyable day! We hope to hear from you soon.
